The End of Heartache (English: " The ending of sorrow " ) is the third album by American metalcore band Killswitch Engage. The album was released on May 10, 2004 via Roadrunner Records.

Genesis

The End of Heartache is the first album with new singer Howard Jones and drummer Justin Foley. Jones and Foley have previously played together at Blood Has Been Shed. Guest musicians were Jesse Leach ( Seemless, The Empire Shall Fall, ex - Killswitch Engage ) and Phil Labonte ( All That Remains ).

The album was produced in the period from 15 December 2003 to 29 January 2004 by guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz in the Zing Studios. Was mixed and mastered the album by Andy Sneap at Backstage Productions Studio ( Derbyshire, UK). It was published in May 2004.

The first written for this album song was " When Darkness Falls ", which is also on the soundtrack to the horror film Freddy vs.. Jason can be found.

Achievements

The End of Heartache reached number 21 of the U.S. album charts. In the U.S. alone, the album has sold over 500,000 copies, reaching gold status. In Germany, the album was at # 42 on the charts. The title song was released as a single from the album. The single was nominated performance in 2004 for a Grammy in the Best Metal category.

In 2005, the album was with a bonus CD containing six additional songs, re-released. This re-release caused much resentment among the fans. The Resident Evil version of the title song was on the soundtrack for the film Resident Evil: Apocalypse used.
