The Verdict - The truth and nothing but the truth is an American feature film from the year 1982 by Sidney Lumet. The film was produced by Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. The film drama based on the novel by Barry Reed.

Action

Frank Galvin was a successful lawyer, but for some time he gets no case more and has become gradually a drinker. His old friend Mickey Morrissey finally gives him the action - representation in the case of a young woman who has fallen into a coma with childbirth. The problem with this case is that the whole thing happened in a prestigious Catholic hospital, which, supported by the Catholic Church, apparently tried to cover up the malpractice. Galvin is confronted with Ed Concannon, the lawyer of the hospital, which strategically is going on with his large law rod can poke around in Galvin's private life and his drinking problem, buys key witnesses and even a beautiful woman on Galvin attaches who sneaks into his confidence.

In spite of the offer of an out of court settlement and the bias of the attending judge to give him Galvin wants a judicial condemnation of the two doctors responsible. While Galvin tried to convince the jury of the guilt of doctors, makes the unscrupulous defense his charges - and by direct influence - every time naught.
