Thongsing Thammavong

Thongsing Thammavong ( lao: ທອງ ສິງ ທໍາ ມະ ວົງ, also Thonsing Thammavong or Thammavon; born April 12, 1944 in the province of Houaphan ) is a leading Laotian politician and, since December 2010 Prime Minister of the country. He belongs to the Lao People's Revolutionary Party ( LPRP ), the Unity Party of Laos, at.

According to official records in 1959, he joined the revolutionary Pathet Lao / Lao People's Party. From 1963 to 1979 Thammavong worked as a teacher and in various management positions in his home province Houaphan before he moved to the Ministry of Education to Vientiane. From 1982 to 1988 he served as President of the Committee for the press, newspapers and radio as well as Deputy Director of the Joint propaganda and training range of Party Central Committee and the Ministry of Culture. He completed training in human resources from with a certificate.

He became president of the Supreme People's Assembly, which was in 1991 replaced due to a constitutional amendment by the National Assembly in 1989. In addition Thammavong was also a member of the Politburo of the LPRP. 2002 to 2006 he was in addition to his membership in the Politburo and secretary of the Party Committee Vientianer and at the same time Mayor of Vientiane.

Since the beginning of the 6th parliamentary term in 2006 Thongsing Thammavong sitting as MP for the constituency 6 ( Luang Prabang province ) in the National Assembly. He served again the office of President of Parliament and held the Presidency of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.

After the surprising resignation of Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh 23 December 2010 Thammavong was appointed as his successor. The President of Parliament took this Pany Yathotou.

Thammavong lives in Vientiane, district Xaysetha.
