Thurey-le-Mont
Thurey -le -Mont is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.
Geography
Thurey -le -Mont is located at 240 m, about 17 km north- northeast of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in a slightly elevated position on the eastern edge of the Talniederung Ognon, north of the ridge of the Grande Côte in the extreme northwest of the Doubs.
The area of 4.83 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Ognon Valley. The western boundary runs along the Ognon as it flows with large flux loops through an approximately one kilometer- wide, flat Talniederung. Former gravel pits in the valley were filled with water. From the river, the municipality's area extends east across the broad flood plain in a gently undulating landscape that is, persisted partly under arable and meadow land in the east, especially with forest ( Bois de la Chaille, Bois Bas ). With 283 m is reached on a hill in the Bois Bas is the highest elevation of Thurey -le -Mont. In the far east the area extends to the foot of the ridge Bois du Mont
Neighboring communities of Thurey -le -Mont are Valleroy in the north, Rigney in the east, the south and Moncey Aulx -lès- Cromary and Chambornay -lès- Bellevaux in the West.
History
In the Middle Ages Thurey belonged to the dominion of Châtillon -le- Duc. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. To avoid confusion with other communities of the same name, Thurey in 1923 officially renamed Thurey -le -Mont. Today the village to the community association Communauté de communes du Val de la Dame Blanche belongs.
Population
With 109 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Thurey -le -Mont is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century ( in 1906 151 people were still counted ), a population growth was recorded since the mid-1970s again. Since then, the population has almost doubled.
Economy and infrastructure
Thurey -le -Mont was well into the 20th century, a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are now several companies of local small businesses. However, most important employer is a company in the food industry (production of pastry ), which employs around 150 people.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Moncey after Cirey. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 10 km.
