Tim Matavž

Tim Matavž ( born January 13, 1989 in Šempeter pri Gorici ) is a Slovenian football player who is under contract at PSV Eindhoven since the 2011/12 season. His preferred position is the storm.

Career

Matavž began his career at NK Bilje, where he played until 2004. He then spent two years playing for the youth teams of ND Gorica, before he was promoted to the senior squad in 2006. With ND Gorica he was in season 2006/ 07 Slovenian runner-up in 2007 and took part in the qualification for the UEFA Cup. August 30, 2007 Matavž moved to FC Groningen, where he signed a five-year contract. For the 2008/ 09 season Matavž was loaned to second division side FC Emmen, but returned early as the winter break back because of injury problems to Groningen. In the 2009/10 season he was top scorer with 13 goals his team.

For the Slovenian U- 21 team Matavž has not played 17 matches and scored six goals. For the World Cup qualifier against San Marino on 12 August 2009 Matavž was appointed to the Slovenian national football team but did not play. Matavž was appointed to the banns of Slovenia for the Football World Cup 2010 and completed on 4 June 2010 his first international match when he came on during warm-up match against New Zealand. At the World Cup he came to a bet when he came off the bench in the last group match against England. However, the defeat and the resignation he could not prevent.
