He was originally supposed to support Christian Vande Velde as a helper and Ryder Hesjedal. As both because of fall injuries on the first mountain stage lost much time, Danielson took over the captaincy and drove through consistent performances in the mountains in the top 10 overall. At the end of Danielson belegete in his Tour debut at the age of 33 years overall in ninth place and won with his team the team standings.
