Toyota Picnic (1996-2001)

The Toyota Picnic or Toyota Ipsum is a van by Toyota based on the Toyota Carina.

The end of 1996 was its launch in Europe. At the start of production, it was only available with a 2- liter gasoline engine with 94 kW ( 128 hp). For model year 1998 the model range from a 2.2 -liter turbo diesel with 66 kW (90 PS ) supplements.

The Toyota Picnic has either six or seven seats, but only 180 liters of cargo space left over when the seats are installed in the third row. Without the rear seats, luggage compartment capacity is 580 liters. From the safety equipment manufactures the Picnic was equipped with two airbags and ABS at its launch at the height of the time. The equipment was never supplemented by side airbags. From processing and its reliability forth the Picnic among the leaders in its segment.

There was no single model of care, so that the Picnic could not keep up with its more modern competitors later. Nevertheless, in Germany in 1999 still a total of 4,000 vehicles were sold.

Mid-2001, followed by just under five -year term cessation of production of Picnic. He was replaced by the Toyota Avensis Verso.
