  • 1 spoke ( radius) 2 Elle ( ulna ) 3 metacarpal bones ( metacarpals )

The large Trapezium (Latin trapezium, Os carpal primum ) is one of the eight carpal bones and belongs to the distal (distal) series of these short bones.

It is by pulling up the back of the hand ( dorsal ) easily felt through the skin, since it has a bump there ( pubic tubercle of the trapezium ). Towards the middle ( medial) a furrow is ( sulcus musculi flexoris carpi radialis ) for the tendon of the spoke side Handbeugers ( flexor carpi radialis ). Body remote ( distal) is a saddle-shaped articular surface of the first metacarpal bone ( metacarpal ), with the large trapezium is the carpometacarpal joint. Toward the center, the Trapezium is large with the small trapezium ( trapezoid ) in conjunction. Between the body and also the centripetal joint surface is an additional, small articular surface for the second metacarpal bone ( metacarpal ). Form is the large trapezium with the navicular ( scaphoid ) in an articulated connection.
