Two Handed Transatlantic Race

The Two Handed Transatlantic Race or Twostar is a transatlantic race sailboat with two sailors on board. Aligned for the first time in 1981, led the regatta course approximately every four years from Plymouth (England) Newport (USA), ie about 2800 nautical miles ( approximately 5185.6 km ). It was thus a parallel event to the already carried out since 1960, also held in four-year cycle one-handed regatta Observer Single -handed Transatlantic Race ( OSTAR ).

The regatta was conducted in 1994 for the last time, apparently due to the increasing number of others - especially French - transatlantic regattas.

After the Regatta Sailing has won with two men per boat in popularity, plans the British Royal Western Yacht Club ( RWYC ), in collaboration with the Newport Yacht Club, currently (as of February 2011) a new edition of the regatta on the familiar route from Plymouth to Newport from the 3rd June 2012. assistance comes from Rhode Iceland State Yachting Committee and the City of Newport.
