History

The three villages of Ober -, over-and under Eisenbach, which were also referred to collectively with the name Eisenbach, belonged to the end of the 18th century the Duchy of Luxembourg and were part of the reign of Falkenstein.

In 1794, French revolutionary troops had the Austrian Netherlands, which included the Duchy of Luxembourg, occupied and annexed in October 1795. Under the French administration, the area belonged to the canton of Vianden in Diekirch District, which was part of the department of forests.

Due to the decisions on the Congress of Vienna, the former Luxembourg territory east of the Sauer and the Our 1815 assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Under the Prussian administration came Bauler for mayor Koxhausen in the district of Bitburg, who was assigned to the Region of Trier.

The west of the Our nearby towns, lower and upper Eisenbach came to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. A bridge still serves as a border crossing - after the first bridge was destroyed in 1878 during the Second World War, a new bridge was built in 1956.
