The Uele as the main source of the river Ubangi

The Uele is created in Dungu by the confluence of the Dungu with the Kibali at Dungu castle.

The Welle ( Uele also, in the Democratic Congo belgo - French Uele, written in Central Africa Franco- French Ouélé ) is the 1130 km long major source of the river Ubangi.

Its catchment area covers 135,400 km ² and is located in the upper Uele districts Congolese, Lower Uele and Ituri.

The Uele is created on the western edge of the Central African emerging north-west of Lake Albert from the headwaters of Dungu and Kibali. After the confluence with the Mbomou on the border of Central Africa, the river bears the name Ubangi and in the further course the second largest tributary of the Congo.

Its catchment area is inhabited by the Azande.
