Uintah County, Utah
Uintah County is a county located in the state of Utah in the United States. The the county seat ( county seat ) is Vernal, which is also the largest town in the county.
Geography
The Uintah County has an area of 11,652 square kilometers, of which 57 square kilometers of water. It is bordered clockwise to the counties: Moffat County ( Colorado ), Rio Blanco County (Colorado), Garfield County ( Colorado ), Grand County, Carbon County, Duchesne County and Daggett County.
History
Uintah County was founded in 1880. It was named from the tribe of Ute Indians. They lived in the valleys of the mountains.

According to the census of 2000, there were 25 224 people in Uintah County. There were 8,187 households and 6,541 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 87.73 % White, 0.11 % African American, 9.38 % Native American, 0.22 % Asian, 0.08 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 1.05 % from other races groups; 1.43% were descended from two or more races. 3.54% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 8,187 households out of which 44.50 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 65.70 % were married couples living together, 10.60% had a female householder with no husband. 20.10% were non-families. 17.20% of all households and 7.30 % had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 3.05 and the average family size was 3.45 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 34.60 % under the age of 18, 10.70 % from 18 to 24, 25.40% from 25 to 44 years, 19.30 % between 45 and 64 years and 9.90% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 29 years. For every 100 females there were 99.30 males, 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.90 males.
The median income for a household was $ 34,518, and the median income for a family was $ 38,877. Males have a median income of $ 33,966, women $ 21,199. The per capita income was $ 13,571. 14.50% of the population and 12.00% of families are below the poverty line. 17.60 % of those under age 18 and 10.40 % were 65 years or older.
