Unified Progressive Party

The United Progressive Party ( Hangul: 통합 진보당, RR: Tonghapjinbodang, english Unified Progressive Party, UPP ) is a left, progressive and liberal party in South Korea. It was founded on December 5, 2011 as the merger of the Democratic Workers' Party of Korea, the People's Participation Party and part of the New Progressive Party. It is led by the triumvirate Rhyu Si -min, Lee Jung -hee and Sim Sang- jeong.

Since the last election of 11 April 2012, the UPP 13 of the 300 members in the South Korean National Assembly Gukhoe. This makes it the third largest party in the Gukhoe, according to the conservative Saenuri Party and the liberal United Democratic Party.
