United Counties of Prescott and Russell

Prescott and Russell United Counties (French Comtés unis de Prescott et Russell) is a county in the South East of the Canadian province of Ontario. The county seat is in the municipality of L' Original Champlain. Its population is 85 381 (2011), the area of ​​2004.44 km ², which corresponds to a population density of 42.6 inhabitants per km ². The county is located on the Ottawa River and was built in 1820 by the merger of Prescott and Russell counties. Around two- thirds of the inhabitants belong to the French-speaking minority of Franco- Ontarians.
