The University of Canberra (UC ) is a public university in the Australian capital Canberra.

History

The UC was founded in 1967 as the Canberra College of Advanced Education ( CCAE ). The foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister John Gorton was made on October 28, 1968; This event is still celebrated today as Stone Day (stone - day). In 1990 CCAE received university status and changed their name into the University of Canberra.

The main campus is located in the suburb of Bruce, about 8 km north- west of Canberra. From 2002 to 2005 there was a second campus in Brisbane / Queensland.

From 2000 to 2006, the Metal for the Brain festival was held in the cafeteria. Today, on the grounds of UC the end of October will take place the Stone Festival, one of the most popular music festivals in Australia.

University

With more than 10,000 students. The 1,2 km ² large campus with 23 buildings located in the district Bruce, north of the city center. In contrast to the Australian National University in the same city, the UC is less focused on the research, but more on practical training.

  • Communication and Education: Degrees in Arts, Communication and Education, each with various sub- specializations and degrees in Hotel Management and Tourism Management.
  • Management and Technology: Degrees in Business Administration, Commerce, Science and Laws with different focal points
  • Science and Style: Degrees in Science as Psychology, Applied Science, Human Biology, Medical Science, Sports Science, Environmental, Graphic, Industrial Design, Nursing, Cultural Heritage Studies or Ecology and Environmental Science.
