Works

1985 Caine was on the album " One Minute Of Love" the Rochester / Veasley band ( with John Zorn and James Blood Ulmer) made its debut in the recording studio. As a leader, he recorded albums for JMT since 1993 and, after its closure, for the quasi- successor Winter & Winter. The latter appeared to label recordings show the label concept faithfully on an extremely wide stylistic range. Unique to yet:

However, the most significant exhibition of Uri Caine Discography likely be his deconstructions of important works by Johann Sebastian Bach ( Goldberg Variations ) and Gustav Mahler.

Gustav Mahler and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart dedicated work arrangements

In Caines Mahler project is a deconstruction of his compositions ( " Primal Light / Primal Light" and " Gustav Mahler in Toblach " ) or an approximation of his work with his own compositions ( "Dark Flame" ).

" Uri Caine Ensemble plays Mozart" builds on this concept, known works of Mozart are " jazzy " and backed by scratching. Besides a number of other Winter & Winter musicians is represented on this album also Nguyên Lê.

Johann Sebastian Bach - Goldberg Variations

On the " Goldberg Variations " project only a small part comes from the original, most titles, however, are new, mostly also " variations " named compositions stylistically back and herwandern between classical, jazz, klezmer, blues, Latin and Electronica. 40 musicians and the Kettwiger Bach Ensemble were involved in this work.

In all the above composers projects dedicated also a disc jockey is represented by DJ Olive.

Schumann, Beethoven, Wagner

  • On "Love Fugue " is Mark Ledfords ( longtime singer of the Pat Metheny Group) and the chanting David Moss ' adapted Robert Schumann's Dichterliebe cycle for the English song. Also, be carried forward (the latter in Japanese ) Poems of Uri Caine's mother, Julie Patton and Naoko Takahashi. Another part of the album includes the La Gaia Scienza chamber music ensemble rehearsed, also designed by Schumann "Piano Quartet in E flat major, op 47 ", the four parts are not arranged in series, but interspersed among the other titles. Since this composition occupies about 40 % of the playing time, the album is run as a joint work between Caine and La Gaia Scienza.
  • "The Diabelli Variations" keep close to the original ( Ludwig van Beethoven Diabelli Variations ) than the aforementioned crossover projects, is due to the jazz - strike but these have a conceptual similarity.
  • " Wagner e Venezia " is the werkgetreuste work Caines, it adapts the well-known works of Richard Wagner for a population the size of a coffee house orchestra. Here the crossover concept penetrates more in detail by, for example, in the occupation of the first violin by Mark Feldman who, like Uri Caine on a classical education, however, is in the range of avant-garde found to pop.

Due to the number of his publications on JMT and Winter & Winter and the resonance that have found this, Caine is one of the most famous musicians of his label. His JMT publications have since been re-released remastered into the JMT Edition by Winter & Winter.
