Vasily Kolotov

Vasily Fyodorovich Kolotow (Russian Василий Фёдорович Колотов; born October 6, 1944 † 5 June 2001) was a Soviet weightlifter.

Biography

Vasily Kolotow, a young machinist from Sverdlovsk, began in the mid 1960s with the weight lifting. He progressed quickly and was starting for " Trud " Pervouralsk, 1969 for the first time Soviet champion in the light heavyweight division (then to 82.5 kg of body weight).

As early as 1960 drew the strong, stocky Vasili in the middle heavyweight (then to 90 kg body weight), because he could not bring the weight for the light heavyweight division. In this weight class, however, it grew in David Rigert 1971 an almost unbeatable competitor. In 1970 he celebrated albeit in Columbus / United States nor the biggest success of his career, namely winning the World Championship title in the middle heavyweight.

By the mid- 1970s, resigned Vasily Kolotow. He had scored in his career after all ten world records.
