Vážany (Vyškov District)

Vážany ( German car wash ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers south-east of Vyškov and belongs to Okres Vyškov.

Geography

Vážany is located at the northwestern foot of Litenčické Hills. Southeast of the Lysa hora rises (361 m) in the southwest of Holý Kopec ( Bald Mountain, 374 m) and northwest of the Kopaniny (342 m).

Neighboring towns are Topolany in the north, Moravské Prusy, Boškůvky and Moravské Málkovice in the northeast, Orlovice in the east, Zdravá Voda in the southeast, Pavlovice, Kozlany and Bohdalice in the south, Manerov and Hlubočany the southwest, Terešov and Zouvalka in the west and Nouzka and Brňany in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1348 as a possession of the Lords of Schwabenitz. In the second half of the 14th century Vážany was divided several times. As the owner of the shares to different families of the gentry alternated. In 1406 Znata bought from Meilitz a part of Vážany. Since 1510 all shares of the village belonged to the estate Moravské Prusy. Leo Wilhelm von Kaunitz bought the estate in 1631 Moravské Prusy with all accessories and struck it his rule to Austerlitz. End of 1831 nine residents died in a cholera epidemic. Vážany remained until the mid-19th century the rule of Austerlitz always submissive. Gepfarrt was the village after Moravské Prusy.

After the abolition of patrimonial Vážany / car wash made ​​from 1850 onwards a municipality in the district team Wischau. The volunteer fire department was founded in 1882. Since the end of the 19th century, the church is called Vážany. 1893 lived 558 people in the 119 houses in the village. 1898, the village school was inaugurated. 1911 saw the establishment of a cooperative dairy. In 1930 the community had 713 inhabitants. In 1946, after the closure of the primary school in the school house a kindergarten. 1960 lived in Vážany 647 people. Since 2008, the municipality performs a coat of arms and banners.

  • Remains of the castle Orlov, southeast of the village. The plant probably originated in the first half of the 9th century. Was the expansion of the castle to an impressive seat of St. John Orlov Coming Before 1200. The castle was destroyed at the beginning of the Hussite Wars.
  • Solid desert Moravské Prusy, on a hill northeast of the village, they probably originated around 1400 and died out in the mid-16th century. In 1591 it was designated as desolate.
