Verkhnyaya Salda

Verkhnaya Salda (Russian Верхняя Салда ) is a town in Sverdlovsk Oblast (Russia) with 46 221 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city lies on the eastern edge of the Ural Mountains, about 150 km north of the Oblasthauptstadt Yekaterinburg and 35 km east of Nizhny Tagil, on the River Salda. The climate is continental.

The city Verkhnaya Salda is the Oblast subordinated administratively directly and as the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

History
