Vladimir Samsonov

Uladzimir Wiktarawitsch Samsonau (White Russian Уладзімір Віктаравіч Самсонаў, mostly Russian Владимир Викторович Самсонов / Vladimir Viktorovich Samsonov Vladimir Samsonov also; born April 17, 1976 in Minsk, Byelorussian SSR, USSR) is a Belarusian professional table tennis. He was three times European Champion in singles and won four times in the European ranking tournament TOP - 12th He won the Champions League eight times, including five times with Villette Charleroi and twice with his current club Fakel Gazprom Orenburg.

Career

Samsonov's first coach in 1983 was the later Belarusian coach Aljaksander Pjatkewitsch. At age 11, he played for the first time internationally. For Students and Youth European Championships he won a total of 21 medals, including 13 gold. In the adult area, he noticed for the first time when he defeated the Swedes Peter Karlsson at the World Table Tennis Championships 1993.

In 1994 he played in the German Bundesliga with Borussia Dusseldorf. Here he scored in the 1997/98 season both in single ( 37:6 ) and in the doubles (with Jörg Rosskopf 18:3 ) the best result. 2006 Samsonau was active with a score of 4:4 in the Chinese Super League.

1994 succeeded Vladimir Samsonov first promotion to the Top 30 in the world rankings (WRL ). He finished in December 1994 ranked 26th in the WRL, in 1995 he broke into the Top 10 of the WRL and finished in December 9th place at the latest in 1996, began his most successful period, at the end of the year, he finished behind Kong Linghui (CHN ) and Liu Guoliang (CHN ) and before Jan -Ove Waldner ( SWE) and Wang Tao ( CHN) 3rd place in the WRL. Not least because of his title of vice - world champion in men's singles in 1997 in Manchester, his first jump succeeded in 1997 at No. 1 in the world rankings. In 1998 he had to leave this place to Liu Guoliang, Samsonov was number 2 in front of Kong Linghui, Wang Liqin (CHN ) and Jan -Ove Waldner. Again in 1999, he managed to leap to number 1 in the WRL, followed by Kong Linghui and Liu Guoliang. After he was briefly slipped in 2000 to No. 7 in the world rankings, he finished in the year of introduction of the new ITTF world rankings again No. 2 in the WRL, behind Wang Liqin and before Ma Lin ( CHN) Liu Guozheng (CHN ) and Kong Linghui.

Private

Vladimir Samsonau is the son of Viktar and Ludmilla Samsonau. He still has one living in Belarus sister. Since the summer of 2000, he is married to the originating from Croatia Natasha, with whom he had two sons named Victor (* 2001) and Ivan (* 2006).
