Wald im Pinzgau

Wald im Pinzgau is an Austrian municipality in the district of Zell am See (Pinzgau ), Salzburger Land with 1156 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). It is located in the region of Upper Pinzgau, about 20 kilometers from the main town of Mittersill, as well as 48 kilometers from the district capital of Zell am See and belongs to the National Park Hohe Tauern communities.

Origin of the name

The name -giving forest occupies about one-third of the municipal area and also extends into the northern slopes of the Venedigergruppe that drop steeply into the Salzach Valley.

Geography

The center of Wald im Pinzgau lies at an elevation of 885 meters. Having now generally the Salzachgeier ( and not the Krimml Kees ) is considered as the origin of the Salzach River, the community forms the valley of the Salzach River, from above the confluence of the Obersulzbachtals up to the Salzach source at Salzachgeier. With the Pinzgauer height on the Gerlos Pass forest borders in the west on the community of Gerlos in the Schwaz district, and to the north in the Kitzbühel Alps against the valleys Langer Grund and Kutzergrund to the town of Hopfgarten and against Ventspils to the village of Westendorf in the district of Kitzbühel. The Kitzbühel Alps are one of the Slate Alps ( Grass Mountain ), and are usually flachgratige tops that show in the forest but pronounced peak shapes. To the east of Trattenbach forms the most striking border town of Neukirchen am Großvenediger. To the south are the mighty Hohe Tauern.

Until the construction of the Gerlos Alpine Road Krimml in the leading from Mittersill over forest on the Pinzgauer height Gerlosstraße was the central link road from Oberpinzgau the Tyrolean Zillertal.

In the forest, the Krimml River flows into the Salzach. For a long time, however, does not situate the origin of the Salzach at Salzachgeier, but at the Krimml Kees, causing the Krimml River was conceived as the ultimate course of the river Salzach. Center of the municipality is the village of Wald im Pinzgau, with about 370 inhabitants. It lies at the southern foot of the Gern Kogels the Kitzbühel Alps, above the Salzach northern shore.

The community of Forest include the wastelands Kreidl, large meadows, small meadows, and Schösser - the latter three on the south bank of the Salzach - and the forest areas of the Valley north face to White Palfen and Wieserwald, against the Rabenkopf as southern boundary, which with 1958 m above sea level. Wald im Pinzgau forms a separate community with its own council (13 councilors ) and Mayor ( Michael Ober Moser, ÖVP). As part of the Citizenship and Registry Office Association Neukirchen am GROßVENEDIGER the charge of Wald im Pinzgau citizenship evidence, as well as the registry office in Neukirchen are on GROßVENEDIGER. Wald im Pinzgau was until 2002 part of the judicial district of Mittersill and belongs since 2003 to the judicial district of Zell am See. Together with eight other municipalities Oberpinzgau forms Wald im Pinzgau the Regional Association Oberpinzgau. The community is, together with the other Oberpinzgau communities between Krimml and Hollerbach, part of the Pollution Control Association Oberpinzgau West, which is responsible for the infrastructure concerning sewerage and proper disposal of waste water from the region.

The community operates a forest nursery and community has a primary school.

The parish of Wald im Pinzgau heard within the Archdiocese of Salzburg to the Dean's Office Stuhlfelden, in which it forms, together with the parishes of Krimml, Neukirchen am Großvenediger and Bramberg the Pfarrverband Stuhlfelden PV2.
