Walding is a market town in the upper Upper Austria, in the district Urfahr in Upper Austria, with 3968 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district Urfahr.

Geography

Walding is a height of 303 m above sea level. A. in Upper Austria. The expansion is 5.5 kilometers from north to south and from west to east 5.4 km. The total area of the substantially northeast Rohrbacher Straße ( B127 ) lying core town is 15.3 square kilometers.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed. In the 18th century Walding had as a pilgrimage site ( " Maria Walding " ), regional importance, but lost this status to the intervention of the gentlemen of the Poestlingberg who shied away from competition.
