Weightlifting at the 1988 Summer Olympics

In the XXIV Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 ten competitions were held in weightlifting.

There were three cases of doping. After the medal disqualifications were for nachgrückten athletes who had won her medal on clean or not detected unsportsmanlike manner, however, carried out any new award ceremonies. It is assumed that only the smaller part of doping offenders was unmasked. Especially in the super heavyweight entered the favorites to be exposed for fear, not more.

The Bulgarian Mitko Grablew was found guilty of doping and got the gold medal revoked.

Featherweight (up to 60 kg)

Lightweight ( to 67.5 kg)

The Bulgarians Angel Guenchew the gold medal as his compatriot Mitko Grablew ( class to 56 kg) was stripped for doping. Subsequently, the Bulgarian Weightlifting Federation withdrew the entire weightlifting team to prevent further doping revelations.

Middleweight (up to 75 kg)

Light Heavyweight ( up to 82.5 kg )

Medium weight ( 90 kg )

1 heavyweight (up to 100 kg)

Szanyi (HUN ) was the silver medal for doping withdrawn.

2 heavyweight (up to 110 kg)
