Welcome 2 My Nightmare

Welcome 2 My Nightmare is the title of 2011 published 26th studio album by Alice Cooper. It is a concept album that picks up the arrangements established by the published 1975 album "Welcome to My Nightmare " story around the character Steven. The surviving members of the original band around singer, guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway and drummer Neal Smith, took Cooper on three tracks for the album, in which participated also other prominent musicians.

Background

In 1975 published "Welcome To My Nightmare " was the first solo album Alice Cooper, whose name had until then been for the entire band. With this album, Cooper wanted to create something so unforgettable and make its previous actions in the shade. To this end, the figure of Steven, whose nightmares of the listener should experience emerged. Cooper said:

"Between fact and fiction, a narrow ridge runs It is known that one can not distinguish between them in the dream phase. Therefore, you must wake up in order not to lose his mind. Now if you are like Steven unable to wake up, this is the biggest nightmare ever. "

After Cooper had the album " Along Came a Spider" published in 2008, he was planning a sequel to that he wanted to record with Bob Ezrin. He was, however, little done to them and pointed out the low success of this album. He remembered Cooper on "Welcome To My Nightmare " and asked what would happen if there were still another nightmare.

On the album numerous songwriters and musicians were involved. In addition to Bob Ezrin and Alice Cooper and Desmond Child was involved in the songwriting; some musical partner of Coopers past have also contributed, such as Dick Wagner, Kip Winger, Keri Kelli and Steve Hunter. In addition, the duet What Baby Wants is included when the pop artist Ke $ ha not only contributed the vocals, but also the songwriting. For the titles, for a special Cooper " Seventies atmosphere " needed, he took the members of his former band, Michael Bruce, Dennis Dunaway and drummer Neal Smith, to complete.

The album was released on 13 September 2011 in different, partially equipped with bonus tracks versions on CD, vinyl double album and as a download. The deluxe version of the CD and the record were resolved in each case a poster and a " ticket " for the " Nightmare Express".

Reception

The German magazine Rocks wrote that the album " is likely more than overwhelm those for whom Alice Cooper only 1986-1991 of stimulus" was. " Welcome 2 My Nightmare " was " fine extensions with the Cooper - work of the seventies, but not one in the character itself. " The "guest posts from the old Alice Cooper band" conjured "up the sizzling atmosphere of the past. " This reviewer is to the conclusion: " A livelier, more varied and better Cooper album it was not long given. "

Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic wrote that Cooper " certainly had had in the last two decades, no hit single, but not behave calmly " did. None of his publications since "Hey Stoopid " (1991) have, however, had " the strong profile " from " Welcome 2 My Nightmare ". One could, given the continuation concept " expect it to be an old-fashioned album ," but it belongs " to the magnificent skills Alice Cooper's" that he always produce records, the " contemporary " sounded, and this album was " no exception ". The guest musician and producer Bob Ezrin would give " the album flair and focus," which made it not only an " unexpectedly successful sequel", but to Cooper's " best album in decades ."
