Wolf Heidenheim

Wolf ( Benjamin Se'ew ) Heidenheim (* 1757 in Heidenheim ( Middle Franconia ), † February 23, 1832 in Roedelheim, today Frankfurt am Main ) was a German - Jewish scholar and printer.

Wolf Heidenheim visited the school rabbi in Fürth and sat under Rabbi Nathan Adler in Frankfurt continued his studies. In 1788 he settled in Offenbach, where he edited Abraham ibn Ezra Mosnajim, the Pentateuch with Targum Onkelos ', Rashi, Raschbams, and Norzis own comments. In 1799 he founded with Baruch Baschwitz in Roedelheim at Frankfurt a book printer. Through his grammatically - correct Masoretic studies and text editions Heidenheim has significantly promoted criticism and exegesis of the Bible. Numerous works of Heidenheim have remained unpublished, most of his manuscripts were acquired by the Bodleian Library in Oxford.
