Záblatí (Prachatice District)

Záblatí ( German Sablat ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers south-west of Prachatice in the Bohemian Forest and belongs to Okres Prachatice.

Geography

The village lies on the right bank of the Blanice, at the lowest point of a wide basin, bounded on the west by the mountains of the Massif Kubany and Bobik (carpenter) and in the south and east is bordered by the foothills of the Libin. To the north, the terrain gradually rises to the heights of along the road from Vimperk to Prachatice protracted foothills of the Bohemian Forest. At the inlet and outlet of this basin the Blanice flows through a narrow gorge. Just inside the entrance are located on a towering rock spur the remains of the former castle Hus ( goose). This can be achieved by Křišťanovice or the cemetery of the erstwhile village Cudrovice / Zuderschlag ago. At the end of this gorge is a small nature reserve in which the effects of the floods of 2002 in the course of the river as well as flora and fauna can be seen. Prachatice is about five kilometers east of Záblatí.

History

The first mention of Záblatí place in the year 1337. 1930 the market had 442 inhabitants, of whom 415 were German.
