Zilshausen

Zilshausen is a municipality in the district Cochem-Zell, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Treis- carding.

Geography

Zilshausen lies on a high plateau in the northern Hunsrück between the eastern and Lützbachtal Lying west Dünnbachtal. The municipality is part of the hamlet Petershäuserhof.

History

The town originated from a farm that is mentioned in 1346 as Zullinshausen documented. Zilshausen was " dreiherrig ", that is, its territory was shared by three sovereigns, including the Elector of Trier and the lords of brown horn - Metternich Beilstein. The rule went out 1794/96 with the occupation by the French revolutionary army. 1815 it to the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia.
