( 10079 ) Meunier is one of the main asteroid belt, which by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809 ) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered on December 2, 1989.
The asteroid was named after the Belgian painter and sculptor Constantin Meunier (1831-1905), which is attributable to the style of naturalism. Main theme of his work is the representation of working people, which was then continued in the 20th century socialist realism.
