( 10806 ) Mexico is a main belt asteroid of the outer, which was discovered on 23 March 1993 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the Schmidt telescope of the French Observatoire de Calern in Grasse (IAU code 010). Unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid, there had been at the Observatoire de Calern already on February 23, 1987 under the provisional designation 1987 DB5.

The asteroid belongs to Hygiea family, a rather older group of asteroids, as has been suggested, the largest member of the asteroid (10 ) Hygiea is. The timeless ( nichtoskulierenden ) orbital elements of ( 10806 ) Mexico are almost identical with those of five smaller asteroids, if one of the absolute brightness of 14.4, 14.1, 15.4, 16.2 and 15.7 compared to 13 0 runs out: ( 78528 ) 2002 RO98, ( 86240 ) 1999 TU119, ( 191516 ) 2003 US112, ( 229872 ) 2009 UB30 and ( 231386 ) 2006 JU54.

( 10806 ) Mexico was named after Mexico on May 9, 2001.
