1974 UCI Road World Championships

The UCI Road World Championships 1974 were held until August 25 in Montreal, Canada from 21.

The track was a 12.5 km long circuit, which was regarded with numerous steep slopes as serious. It was also very hot.

In the pros 69 driver went from 15 nations at the start, of which only 18 finished the race. The pros sailed the round 21 times. The Frenchman Bernard Thevenet completed a 100-kilometer solo flight at the top, but was intercepted during the last round and up to fifth place " passed through". World Champion was the Belgian Eddy Merckx, who thus took his third title.

In the amateurs drove 172 athletes the race, including six West German starter. The goal was Peter Weibel best driver of the Federal German cyclists in fifth place.
