1975 South American Championships in Athletics
The XXVIII. Athletics South America Championships was held from 26 to 31 August 1975 in Rio de Janeiro, about six weeks before the Pan American Games in Mexico City.
The most successful competitor was the Brazilian sprinter Rui da Silva with three gold medals. His compatriot Silvina Pereira also won three gold medals and another silver medal. Brazil won both 1975 team ratings, as with all South Championships in 1975. (2009)

The team competition was won with men, the Brazilian team with 254 points ahead of Colombia with 156.5 points and before the Argentines with 138 points. Behind the Chileans with 70 points reached the Uruguayans 24 points off Peru and Ecuador 7.5 points 7 points.
