1975 Women's European Volleyball Championship

The European Women's Volleyball in 1975 took place from October 18 to 25 held in Yugoslavia. It was the first qualifying matches. The crew of the German Democratic Republic met in the preliminary round to the West German selection and won at the end of the first German Championship medal. The Games were held in Belgrade, Rijeka, Banja Luka and Negotin. The Soviet Union won the title for the eighth time.

Mode

The twelve participants were divided into the first round in three groups of four. The group winners and runners-up were summarized in the final round to a group. In the mode " all against all " they determined the tournament winner. The remaining teams played to the ranks of seven to twelve. Results from teams that already clashed in the first round were incorporated into the final round.

The GDR played with Helga Open, Jutta Balster, Hannelore Meincke, Anke Westendorf, Cornelia Rickert, Christine Walther, Schaller, Ingrid Mierzwiak, Monika Meissner, Heller, Barbara Czekalla and Böhm.

Qualification

Yugoslavia was set as host. The top five teams in the European championship 1971, there were also automatically qualified. These were the Soviet Union as the defending champion, the Second Czechoslovakia, the Third of Poland, the Fourth and the Fifth Bulgaria Hungary.

Six other teams reached the finals via qualifiers. The West German team prevailed with home advantage against France and Finland. Success also were the German Democratic Republic, Romania, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium.
