1978 1. deild

The Faroe Islands Football Cup 1978 was held in the first Deild said first Faroese league and overall was the 36th season. It started on April 23, 1978 and ended on 24 September 1978.

Movers MB Miðvágur returned after 30 years back in the top flight. Master was HB Tórshavn, which could thus win the title for the tenth time. HB remained undefeated throughout the entire season. In a direct duel of the two teams at the seventh match HB suggested home crowd TB with 3:2 and could close the gap to two points.
