1996 IIHF European Women Championships

The 5th European Women's Hockey was held from 23 to 29 March 1996 in the Russian city of Yaroslavl instead. The teams ranked 1-5 qualify for the 4th World Ice Hockey Championship of Women in the following year. Venues of the B group were from 12 to 16 March 1996, the city Piešťany and Trnava in Slovakia. After this host the European Championships have been set since the world championships now - with the exception of the Olympic year - should be held annually.
