1996 Úrvalsdeild
The Icelandic Football Championship 1996 was the 85th season of the highest Icelandic Football League. The League began on 23 May 1996 and ended with the last games on 29 September 1996.
It took ten teams participated in the competition, which was held in a simple round-trip round. ÍA Akranes could win the 17 title so far in the club's history, of which the fifth in series. In order for the club set a new record previously only had Fram Reykjavík championships from 1913 to 1918 more ( namely six ) can win in succession, with Fram, however, was been in 1913 and 1914, the only participant of the championship. Furthermore brought Fram winning the Cup for the fourth time in the history of the Double.
