1997 Úrvalsdeild
The Icelandic Football Championship 1997 was the 86th season of the highest Icelandic Football League. The League began on 19 May 1997, ended with the last games on 27 September 1997.
It took ten teams participated in the competition, which was held in a simple round-trip round. ÍB Vestmannaeyja won for the first time since 1979, the championship, the champion of the last five seasons, ÍA Akranes, was runner-up.
