The season 2006/ 07 the Regional was the 13th season of the Regional as the third- highest division in German football. It was in two regional scales - played - North and South. In the relay northern played 19 teams, had the South Season a team strength of 18
The champion and runner-up of the scales of the North and South went directly on to the 2nd Bundesliga.

North
The season of the Regionalliga Nord was launched on 4 August 2006 and ended on June 2, 2007. Relegated from the Bundesliga 2 were Dynamo Dresden and Rot Weiss Ahlen, the climbers from the league were the first FC Union Berlin, Borussia Dortmund II Borussia Mönchengladbach II, SV Wilhelmshaven and 1.FC Magdeburg.
Season overview
The FC St. Pauli and VfL Osnabrück were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. Holstein Kiel, Borussia Mönchengladbach II, Bayer Leverkusen II, Hertha BSC II and SV Wilhelmshaven dismounted in the league.
By a 2-2 draw in the penultimate round against Dynamo Dresden, FC St. Pauli was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. VfL Osnabrück pulled over on the final day with a goal by Thomas Reichenberger in the 89th minute to make it 2-1 final score against Rot Weiss Ahlen at FC Magdeburg and took second place in the table.
The descent of the second teams of Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen and Hertha BSC, and the SV Wilhelmshaven were already pre-determined. The last relegated to the Oberliga was searched on last matchday in the distance duel between Borussia Dortmund II and Holstein Kiel. Dortmund won the match 2-0, 1-0 win by the keel was not enough to avoid relegation.
