2006 Viva World Cup

At the Viva World Cup 2006 in the Occitan in southern France officially participated four teams, of which only three were playing. It was the first edition of Viva World Cup.

Until shortly before the tournament was still expected six participants, but the teams from West Papua and the Roma did not participate eventually. Originally even eight teams were sought. However, this could not be achieved, as other members of the NF- boards, which were traded as a participant of the Viva World Cup in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, at the parallel event ELF participated Cup of Northern Cyprus Football Association ( KTFF ) in Northern Cyprus.

The game was a group stage with four teams and the finals of the two best teams in the stages of Hyères and Belle Coste. The players from South Cameroon could not attend because of visa difficulties. All their games were seen as a 0-3 defeat.

Political pressure

The People's Republic of China was opposed to the originally planned participation of Tibet, as this promotes their independence status of China, at least when it comes to decisions. And the Greek government objected to it that the Viva World Cup was originally supposed to take place in the internationally unrecognized Turkish northern part of Cyprus.
