2008 UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship

The final round of the 11th U-19 Football Championship Women was held in the period from July 7 to 19, 2008 in France. Thus, France was the second time after 2000 once again host the tournament. Eight teams came first in a group stage into two groups and then in the knockout system against each other. Game were eligible players who were born on 1 January 1989 or later.

For the first time the title went to Italy. The Italians sat down in the final with a 1-0 win over Norway by. Defending champion Germany failed in the semifinals in a penalty shoot-out against Norway. For the Germans presented with Marie Pollmann, who scored four goals, the top scorer.

Qualification

Mode

France qualified automatically as hosts. The remaining 44 reported national teams were divided into eleven groups of four teams each. The group winners and runners- automatically reached the second qualifying round. Then there were the two best third. However, only the respective results were used against the group winners and runners- To determine the best third. The first qualifying round was held in autumn 2007.

The remaining 24 teams were divided into the second qualifying round on six groups of four teams each. The six group winners and best runners qualified for the final tournament in France. The tournaments of the second qualifying round were held between the 24th and 29th April 2008.

Venues

The 15 matches of the tournament were played in the towns of Amboise, Avoine, Blois, Romorantin- Lanthenay, Saint- Cyr- sur -Loire, Tours and Vineuil. Up to Vineuil it was the venue for the U-17 European Junior 2004. Hosts France played in Blois. There is also a semi-final took place. At Tours, the second semi-final and the final were played.

First qualifying round

All games in Strumica (Macedonia).

Second qualifying round
