2010 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship
The 3rd Hockey World Championships U18 junior women of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships were in 2010 in the age group of under- eighteen year olds ( U18). In total, between 27 March and 9 April 2010 14 teams at the two tournaments of the top Division I and Division part.
The world champion was the first time the team of Canada that could defeat the final arch-rivals from the United States 5-4 after extra time. The German team finished the tournament with fourth place in the top division, Switzerland succeeded in Division I of the direct promotion back to the top division. Top Division
The U18 World Championship Top Division was held from 27 March to 3 April 2010 in Chicago in the United States instead. The matches were played on the two ice rinks of Seven Bridges Ice Arena ( 1,100 and 200 seats).
It was attended by eight teams that played in two groups of four teams. The world champion Canada secured by a 5-4 victory after extra time over the United States. It was the first title for the Canadians.
Mode
After the group matches of the preliminary round, the two group winners qualified directly for the semi-finals. The runners-up and third ever denied a qualifier for the semi-finals. The fourth of the group matches denied a best- of-three - round for seventh place.

The relegation round was first held in mode " Best-of- Three". Here, the fourth place of Group A and Group B of the Fourth clashed. The team that won two of three games at first for himself, remained in the WM group, the losers relegated to Division I.
