23rd Waffen Mountain Division of the SS Kama (2nd Croatian)

With the formation of the 23 Waffen Mountain Division of the SS "Kama " ( Croat No. 2) from so-called ethnic Germans and Bosniaks began on 10 June 1944 in eastern Croatia. Two weeks later, the Division was moved into the room where the 18th SS Volunteer Panzer Grenadier Division " Horst Wessel " to southern Hungary. On 24 September 1944, the order was issued to abort the installation, when the Red Army was already ventured far to the west and threatened the training camp of the division. The newly formed 31st SS Volunteer Grenadier Division of the German cadre personnel was fed while the Bosniaks of the 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS " Handschar " ( Croat No. 1) were allocated. The vacant division number was used in February 1945 for the 23rd SS Volunteer Panzer Grenadier Division " Nederland " ( Dutch No. 1).
