( 33179 ) Arsènewenger is a main belt asteroid of the middle, which was discovered on 29 March 1998 by the British astronomer Ian P. Griffin Observatory at the Brevard Community College in Cocoa, Florida (IAU code 758 ). The college is now called Eastern Florida State College. Unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid it had previously already given on 12, 14 and 15 March 1977, the provisional designation 1977 EB8 the Japanese Kiso Observatory.

The asteroid was named on 24 November 2007 after the French football coach Arsène Wenger, who is manager of Arsenal since 1996. Ian P. Griffin is a fan of Arsenal.
