( 42295 ) Teresateng is an asteroid of the inner main belt, which was discovered Observatory near Eloy, Arizona ( IAU code 919) by Canadian astronomer William Kwong Yu Yeung Hong Kong origin at the Desert Beaver on 23 October 2001. Unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid, there had been in February 1999 with the provisional designation 1999 CE59 at Lincoln Laboratory Experimental Test System in Socorro, New Mexico.

Mean distance from the sun ( semimajor axis), eccentricity and inclination of the orbital plane of the asteroid similar to the path data of the members of the Flora family, a large group of asteroids that is named after ( 8) flora. Asteroids of this family move in an orbital resonance of 4:9 with the planet Mars around the Sun. The group is also called Ariadne family after the asteroid (43 ) Ariadne.

( 42295 ) Teresateng was named after the Taiwanese singer Teresa Teng on June 7, 2009.
