( 46514 ) Lasswitz is an asteroid of the inner main belt, which was discovered on 15 May 1977 by the German astronomer Hans -Emil Schuster on La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory in Chile ( IAU code 809).

Mean distance from the sun ( semimajor axis), eccentricity and inclination of the orbital plane of the asteroid roughly correspond to the Phocaea family, a group of asteroids that is named after (25 ) Phocaea. Characteristic of this group is among others the 4:1 orbital resonance with the planet Jupiter. The sun orbit of ( 46514 ) Lasswitz is strong compared to the ecliptic of the solar system is inclined at more than 23 °, which is characteristic of Phocaea asteroids.

( 46514 ) Lasswitz was named after the German philosopher and writer Kurd Laßwitz on 7 April 2005. In 1976 a Martian crater was named after Kurd Laßwitz: Mars crater Lasswitz.
