47 Ursae Majoris c

47 Ursae Majoris c is an exoplanet of the main sequence star 47 Ursae Majoris encircles all 2594 days. Due to its high mass is assumed that it is a gas planet. He is also the outermost known planet of its planetary system. The planet was discovered in 2002.

Discovery

As the majority of exoplanets was this using the radial velocity method discovered. At the time of discovery was already known that his star, 47 Ursae Majoris, a planet had Ursae Majoris b namely 47. Further measurements indicated later, the existence of this planet. The planet was discovered by Debra Fischer, Geoffrey Marcy and R. Paul Butler.

Circulation and mass

The planet orbits its star at a distance of approximately 3.79 astronomical units and has a mass of about 251.8 Earth masses and 0.792 Jupiter masses.
