By Most High - Cabinet -Order ( AKO ) from 1 July 1906, ordered on horseback regiment of five squadrons as of 1 October of the year, a list of another hunter.
Had to give this up:
- The Hussar Regiment No. 5, the 2nd Squadron
- The Uhlan Regiment No. 8, the 2nd Squadron
- The Grenadier Regiment of Horse No. 3, the 1st Squadron
Further were previously self-employed
- Squadrons of hunters on horseback No. I and XVII incorporated into the new regiment.
As a garrison town Graudenz was assigned.
World War I
After mobilization in July 1914, the Regiment Association was dissolved and the squadrons - divided into different infantry divisions - their determination as signaling and connection tab under.
The squadrons was used exclusively in the East and did their service in Russian Poland, Galicia, Rumania, and Courland. The cavalry status remained until the war ended.
The tradition of the regiment later took over the A Squadron of the Reichswehr Rider Regiment No. 5 in Stolp.
Uniform
Pattern as cuirassiers, but with the following changes:
- Grey Green Koller ( from 1910) with Swedish tunic lapels, cuffs and all forays light green, light blue epaulettes but with forays as a badge color. To collar and cuffs went pale green trimmings, which had a wide median strip and narrow margins in the facing color. For officers consisted of stocking in golden or silver braid with narrow margins in the facing color.
- Helmet: Similar Kürassierhelm, made from blackened steel with Dragoon Eagle. Edges with nickel silver mount rails. Bit like dragoon helmet with a cloverleaf essay. ( Officers with fluted tip as cuirassier officers. ) Arched chinscales from Tombak.

- Lance flag. White-Black
