History

The company was founded by Vattenfall Europe in 2002 with the name Vattenfall Europe Transmission and gradually took over the transmission networks of the former HEW, BEWAG and VEAG on. In 2008, plans to exit from its transmission network, Vattenfall Europe announced.

In January 2010, the name was changed to 50 Hertz Transmission took place. In March 2010, the Group then announced that they had reached an agreement with the Belgian network operator Elia and the Australian Infrastructure Fund Industry Funds Management (IFM ) on the sale of 50 Hertz. The sale was completed on 19 May 2010 for a price of 465 million euro. Elia has since the majority of shares (60 %) and operational control. IFM has 40 % to 50 Hertz.
