(5374) Hokutosei

( 5374 ) Hokutosei is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on January 4, 1989 by the Japanese astronomer Masayuki Yanai and Kazuo Watanabe at Kitami Observatory (IAU code 400).

It was named after the Hokutosei (Japanese北斗星, dt " Big Dipper " ), a luxurious sleeper train, which connects the cities of Sapporo and Tokyo, and thereby overcome the 1000 km distance in a driving time of 16 hours.
