( 59388 ) Monod is an asteroid of the inner main belt, which was discovered on 24 March 1999 by the Italian astronomer at Osservatorio Astronomico di Matteo Santangelo Monte Agliale (IAU code 159) in Borgo a Mozzano.

The asteroid was named on 13 April 2006 by the French biochemist Jacques Monod, in 1965, together with François Jacob and André Lwoff the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded, "for their discoveries concerning the genetic control of the synthesis of enzymes and viruses ".
