5 × 2 - Five times two is a French film directed by François Ozon from the year 2004.

Action

The film tells the story of a couple in reverse chronology, so starting with the failure of this relationship to return to the magic of their first encounter. These are the five chapters of their common history.

Comments

The five chapters are separated by recordings of five Italian, for each station matching chansons. The songs are by Paolo Conte, Gino Paoli, Iller Pataccini, Luigi Tenco and Alec Wilder. Ennio Morricone contributed a sixth song.

In a French DVD special edition of the story is told in the "right " order.

Urs Jenny said in the mirror: " The great thing about this film is that he makes his reverse gear entirely plausible and obvious. His narrative movement brings a paradoxically [... ] to play with the question [ ... ]: Was this relationship doomed this love between Marion and Gilles from the beginning to fail "?

The filmdienst (21/ 2004) describes the film as a " subtle reflection on the misunderstandings and uncertainty, loneliness in pairs and the fragility of feelings to moments of strong longing and tenderness, devotion and desire ." The film was " rich in detail staged " and " played excellent."

" [T ] espite brilliant performer and many admirable details appear scattered over a period of five years, episodes of Marion and Gilles ' life psychologically unproductive ", however, was Cinema. " The unfortunately everyday story of the demise of a marriage " is " backwards, but tells little effective ".

Awards

The film was shown in 2004 in competition at the International Film Festival of Venice for the Golden Lion, but could not prevail against Mike Leigh's Vera Drake himself. Valeria Bruni Tedeschi won the Pasinetti Award for Best Actress.
